Dale Varsho – Director of Operations / Field Manager

Dale has been the Express’s field manager since the inaugural 2005 season. The 2010 Northwoods League Manager of the Year has led the Express to the playoffs six times, winning Eau Claire’s first NWL Championship in 2010. The Express also reached the Championship Series in 2007, 2016, and 2019 and the Divisional Series in 2009. The 2025 season will mark his 20th as the team’s Director of Operations.
A native of Marshfield, Wis., Dale is no stranger to Eau Claire baseball, having played several years for the Eau Claire Cavaliers. He also served as an assistant coach at his alma mater, UW-Eau Claire. After a short coaching stint at UW-River Falls, Dale served as the head coach and Director of Facilities at Viterbo University in La Crosse, Wis., from 1999-2001.
Dale and his wife Jennifer live in Eau Claire with their three children: Jake, Averie and Christian.

Vic Cable – Pitching Coach

Vic starts his 20th season as the Express pitching coach in 2025. He brings over 20 years of coaching experience to the Express staff.
Following a standout career at UW-Eau Claire, he set career records for wins, strikeouts, innings pitched, and appearances during a 15-year career with the Eau Claire Cavaliers. In addition, Vic has served as an assistant coach at Eau Claire Memorial and Chippewa Falls High School, where he continues to teach.
Vic lives in Eau Claire with his wife, Pam.

Jack Donahue - Assistant Coach

Jack Donahue – Assistant Coach

Donahue’s coaching experience started at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, where he also played for two years. After his two years coaching at UW Stout, he went to get his master’s degree and coach at Mineral Area College in Park Hills, Missouri. In the two years at Mineral Area College, the program won 66 games combined over the two seasons. The Cardinals advanced to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 16 Tournament each season. He helped many pitchers move on to four-year schools, along with many at the Division 1 level.
After coaching at Mineral Area for two years, he went on to coach at Indian Hills Community College last year. Donahue has also spent time as a pitching coach in the Northwoods League with the Waterloo Bucks.
Donahue holds an Associate of Arts degree from DMACC, a Bachelor of Science in Applied Math and Computer Science with a concentration in Math Education from UW Stout, and a Master of Education from Central Methodist University.

Easton Petrie - Assistant Coach

Easton is from Lubbock, Texas, where he played high school baseball at Lubbock Christian High School. He continued his baseball career at Austin College in Sherman, TX, and currently serves as a Student Coach at Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas.
Easton has coaching in his blood as he is the grandson of Wisconsin Hall of Fame Coach Terry Petrie, a longtime coach at UW Stout. Easton’s father, Trent Petrie, played with Vic Cable and Dale Varsho for the Eau Claire Cavaliers during his college days and served as an assistant coach for Oklahoma State, New Mexico and Texas Tech.
Easton enjoys going golfing with his friends, spending time with his nephews and is also known as the breakdance champion of Lubbock.

Joe Kroeger - Assistant Coach

The Eau Claire Express is excited to welcome Joe Kroeger as an assistant coach for the 2026 season. A native of Rice Lake, Wisconsin, Joe played high school baseball at Rice Lake High School before continuing his collegiate career at the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio.
Joe most recently served as an assistant coach at the University of Findlay during the 2025–26 season, where he worked closely with the team’s hitters and outfielders. His experience as both a player and coach brings valuable knowledge and leadership to the Express coaching staff.
Away from the baseball field, Joe enjoys visiting cat rescues. He just can’t get enough kitten cuddles.
