Ashwaubenon, Wis.- The Green Bay Booyah have announced the addition of two catchers by signing Blaise Maris (Florida Tech) and John Tuccillo (Stony Brook).
Maris, a 5-foot-11, junior from Gainesville, Florida, is returning to Green Bay after a successful stint in Northwoods League in 2018. Maris led the team in hits, games played, home runs, RBI, and was second on the team in doubles. The consistent backstop hit .296 (73-247) with seven doubles and five home runs last summer. The junior is off to a hot start for Florida Tech this spring; he’s hitting .351 with two home runs and three doubles through his first ten games. Florida Tech will take on Davenport in Melbourne, Florida tomorrow evening.
Tuccillo, a 5-foot-10, sophomore from Clinton Corners, New York will add another experienced catcher to the roster. As a freshman he earned a spot on the America East All-Rookie Team. He hit .327 in conference games with 10 RBI and two home runs. He earned America East Rookie of the Week twice last year. Tuccillo is off to another solid start this year as he is hitting .313 (5-16) with a home run through his first four games. Stony Brook will take on #13 Arkansas this weekend in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Both Maris and Tuccillo have already caught a ton of games in their college careers and will bring plenty of valuable experience and talent at an important position for the Booyah this summer.
The Green Bay Booyah open up the season on Tuesday, May 28th at 7:05 in Traverse City, Michigan. Capital Credit Union Park will host the first Booyah home game against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters on Saturday June 1st at 7:05.
