Ashwaubenon, WI – The Green Bay Booyah look for their first win of the 2020 season this afternoon as they welcome the Rockford Rivets to town for a two-game set.
In a 12-inning game last night in Wisconsin Rapids, the Booyah were able to tie the game up in the 8th after a Nadir Lewis single into right field plated Andy Blake. Green Bay held the lead twice in extra innings under international rules, but the Rafters battled back throughout, eventually winning 4-3 on a passed ball in the 12th frame.
Today, Green Bay turns to right hander Garrett Martin out of nearby Marian University. The junior returns for his second season in a Booyah uniform, after going 4-2 last year with a 3.43 ERA and 42 K’s in 2019. During the shortened season with the Sabres, Martin finished with a perfect 2-0 record, striking out 19 batters over the courses of 13 innings pitched.
The Rivets come into this two game series after being swept by La Crosse. On opening day, Rockford lost 1-0 and then fell 6-4 in last night’s game. Right hander Nico Rodriguez was the loser at home, after giving up four runs in an inning and two-thirds.
First pitch for today’s game is set for 4:35 p.m. Tickets for the game are sold out but admission for the Festival Foods postgame live music by Coscious Pilot and Fireworks still remain. Call the Booyah front office at 920.497.7225 or stop by the Thario Ticket Office to purchase.
