Green Bay aims for second in a row at Traverse City
Traverse City, Mich.- The Green Bay Rockers will face off against the Traverse City Pit Spitters for the secon3d time in as many days Monday, as Green Bay looks for their first sweep of the season following Sunday’s come from behind win.
The Rockers enter this game at 7-14 while the Pit Spitters enter with an 8-13 record as both teams will play their 22nd game of the season.
In Sunday’s game between Green Bay and Traverse City, the Rockers found themselves down 3-2 entering the top of the ninth but put together a come from behind win behind the bats of Griffin Stevens and Owen Jackson.
Stevens’s RBI sacrifice fly tied the game at three and then Jackson’s RBI double gave the Rockers the lead for good at 4-3, scoring Carson Yates from second and putting the Rockers on top.
Bryce Crabb pitched three scoreless innings out of the bullpen and got the win while Jacob Conover earned his first save of the season after retiring the last three Pit Spitters hitters in the ninth.
Stevens finished with two RBIs on the day following an RBI groundout in the third, while Brendan Ryan went 2-3 with two runs scored and an RBI single.
Carson Yates also went 2-5 with a double in his Rockers debut and had a run scored in the ninth to cap off his first action with Green Bay.
For Monday’s game, the Rockers will give the ball to Logan Berrier, who will make his sixth appearance of the season for the Rockers.
Berrier enters this game with a 1.02 ERA with 17.2 innings pitched while giving up seven walks and striking out 14.
The Pit Spitters will give the ball to Aaron Forrest who will make his fourth appearance of the season as he currently has a 6.10 ERA in 10.1 innings pitched.
Following this matchup with the Pit Spitters, Green Bay will conclude the five-game road trip with a game against the Lakeshore Chinooks on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. from Kapco Park.
