Green Bay now looks to second straight meeting with Fond du Lac Tuesday at Herr-Baker Field
Ashwaubenon, Wis.- The Green Bay Rockers fell to the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 4-2 Monday night at Capital Credit Union Park, dropping the first of two meetings this week with Fond du Lac.
The Rockers drop to 9-20 on the season while the Dock Spiders improve to 15-12 as these two teams will square off again Tuesday in the second of back-to-back meetings.
Despite the Dock Spiders loading up the bases in the top of the first, Will Semb did not let any runs come across as a double play from the Rockers defense kept the Dock Spiders off the board in the top of the first.
Fond du Lac took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the second, courtesy of a two-run home run over the right field wall, as the Dock Spiders led 2-0 after the first two innings.
Following a 1-2-3 inning from both sides offensively in the third, the Dock Spiders added another run off a home run to right, taking a 3-0 lead heading into the fifth.
After a nice play from first by Matt Scannell to force another 1-2-3 inning for the Dock Spiders offense, the Rockers went scoreless in the bottom half of the frame as it remained 3-0 through five innings of play.
Bryce Crabb came on in relief in the sixth, and pitched a scoreless inning, keeping it 3-0 going into the seventh.
Crabb continued his scoreless outing through the seventh, keeping his team in the game going into the final innings at Capital Credit Union Park.
The Rockers scored their first runs of the game off a two-RBI single from Tristin Garcia, cutting the lead to 3-2 going into the eighth inning.
Fond du Lac added some insurance in the top of the eighth, scoring one run off an RBI single, as the Dock Spiders took a 4-2 lead going into the bottom of the eighth.
After Crabb pitched a scoreless top of the ninth, the Rockers got a one-out single but could not score, as the Dock Spiders held on to win 4-2.
Green Bay will now head back on the road on Tuesday as they take on the Dock Spiders at Herr-Baker field. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
