Green Bay will now head on the road to Wisconsin Rapids after splitting series with Fond du Lac
Ashwaubenon, Wis.- The Green Bay Rockers fell to the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 10-4 Friday night at Capital Credit Union Park, splitting the series with Fond du Lac after Green Bay won Thursday night at home.
The Rockers now are 13-8 through second half play heading into a two-game series with Wisconsin Rapids on Saturday and Sunday. The Dock Spiders now improve to 11-12 following Friday’s game.
Fond du Lac took an early 2-0 lead through the first inning, after scoring two runs off an error and an RBI single as the Dock Spiders led 2-0 after the first inning of play.
Following a scoreless second inning on both sides, the Dock Spiders scored six runs in the top of the third, but the Rockers responded with two of their own off a two-RBI single from Matt Scannell, making the score 8-2 through three innings at Capital Credit Union Park.
Fond du Lac added two more runs in the top of the fourth to make it 10-2 heading into the fifth, but RBI hits from Matt Scannell and Keniel De Leon made it a 10-4 game after five innings of play.
Chase Pelter pitched a scoreless sixth inning to keep the Dock Spiders off the board in the sixth, as it remained a 10-4 game going into the seventh inning.
In his first appearance as a member of the Rockers, Easton Vertz pitched a scoreless seventh inning, getting his first strikeout in the process as it remained a 10-4 game through seven innings.
After Vertz pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth inning as well, the Rockers did not score in the bottom of the ninth as the Dock Spiders held on for the 10-4 win on the road.
The Rockers will now head back on the road to take on the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters on Saturday at Witter Field. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
