Green Bay now looks for series split Sunday afternoon at Capital Credit Union Park

BOX SCORE

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.- The Green Bay Rockers fell to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 3-1 Saturday night at Witter Field, as the Rafters won the first of the two-game series between the two teams.

The Rockers now are 13-9 in second half play this season while the Rafters improve to 18-6 following Saturday’s game, as the Rockers will look for the series split Sunday afternoon at home.

After both teams went scoreless in the first two innings of play, Wisconsin Rapids scored three runs in the bottom of the third to take a 3-0 lead through three innings at Witter Field.

However, Green Bay responded quickly as a J.P Gauthier solo home run over the left field wall made it a 3-1 ballgame going into the fifth inning.

Austin Vandenbrink pitched a scoreless fifth inning to keep it a 3-1 ballgame heading into the sixth as he finished his 2.1 innings pitched with giving up no runs on just one hit.

Despite the Rafters loading the bases in the bottom of the sixth, Jacob Young pitched a scoreless sixth inning as he kept the Rafters off the board in the frame, with the score remaining 3-1 in favor of Wisconsin Rapids heading into the seventh inning of play.

Following a scoreless seventh inning on both sides, the eighth inning featured another scoreless affair as neither team broke through on offense keeping it a 3-1 game approaching the ninth.

In the top of the ninth, the Rockers had the tying run on second after a late rally, but a flyout ended the game, sealing the deal for the Rafters victory.

Green Bay will now host Wisconsin Rapids Sunday to conclude the home-and-home series between the two teams. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. at Capital Credit Union Park.
