Three-run third inning for Green Bay fuels 6-5 win in game two of doubleheader.

Ashwaubenon, Wis.- The Rockers won Wednesday night’s contest at Capital Credit Union Park, splitting the doubleheader with the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. The 6-5 victory marked Green Bay’s 15th victory of the year.

Starting on the hill for the Rockers was Cole Peschl (Charleston). The right-hander cruised on the hill, striking out a season-high 12 batters across 5.1 innings.

Wisconsin Rapids started off this game’s scoring in the second inning, but Green Bay would tie it up a half inning later. The Rockers’ starting left fielder Jojo Jackson (Georgia State) was able to score on a wild pitch, knotting the game at one apiece.

Green Bay would get three runs one inning later for their first lead of the day. Kyle West (West Virginia), Carlos Hernandez (Anderson), and Lukas Schramm (Kentucky) would be the three runs to score on a flurry of hits, helping Green Bay take a 4-1 lead.

Wisconsin Rapids would get one more run in the fourth before Green Bay put up two more in the fifth. Hernandez and Schramm scored their second runs of the game as Austin Fawley (Kentucky) and Mateo Matthews (Wagner) both had RBI singles to make it a 6-2 ball game.

The Rafters would put up a three-spot in the top of the sixth inning, ending the day for Peschl on the hill. He would be relieved by Jacob Faulkner (Princeton). Faulkner and Tyler Horvath (Case Western Reserve) would carry the torch the rest of the way for the Rockers, combining for 3.2 scoreless innings on the hill. Green Bay would end up winning this close game 6-5.

Peschl would be today’s winning pitcher, taking his first victory on the hill and improving his record to 1-0. Horvath earned his second save of the year.

Hernadez and Schramm led the way on offense for the Rockers, who both had two runs and two hits in Wednesday’s second game.

The Rockers improve to 15-9 on the year and hold onto first place in the Great Lakes West division standings. Wisconsin Rapids falls to 12-11 on the year and remain in third place.

Up next for the Rockers is their first trip of the season to Madison, Wisconsin for a two-game series with the Mallards. Thursday night’s first pitch will be at 6:05 p.m.
