ChinooksKalamazoo, Mich- It will be the second time this season in which the newest teams to join the Northwoods League will square off. The Growlers and the Kenosha Kingfish both look to snap out of losing streaks in a two-game mid-week series. Kalamazoo will look to reverse their fortunes against Kenosha as the Kingfish swept the Growlers in their first series this season.

PROBABLE STARTERS

Tuesday, June 24: TBA vs. RHP Ryan Colegate (1-1, 4.15 ERA)

Making his fifth start of the season, Colegate will fool hitters as he has 11 strikeouts in just 17.1 innings pitched this season. Colegate had his best start against Wisconsin Rapids back on June 1, when he went six strong innings allowing just one run on three hits while striking out seven. In his five appearances this season, opponents have a chilling .122 batting average.

Wednesday, June 25: TBA vs. LHP Matt Farrington (0-0, 4.05 ERA)

Coming out of the bullpen, Farrington will be appearing in his fourth game but making his first start in a Growlers uniform. Farrington has struck out three while surrendering just six hits in his 6.2 innings this season. His best outing was on June 16, against the Wisconsin Woodchucks, where he went 1.2 innings, giving up just one hit and striking out three of the five batters he faced.

  • Ryan Spaulding (Ball State) is leading the Growlers in RBI’s with 17 and has always been the consistent bat in the Growlers line-up, hitting in 10 of the last 12 games he has played in.
  • Ryan Bull (Notre Dame) went 4-for-7 and scored a run the last time the Growlers faced off against the Kingfish.
  • The Growlers pitching staff was strong in their last outing against the Kingfish as they struck out 13 batters over the two game series.
  • The Kingfish in their inaugural season set in fifth place in the South Division, only five games back of first place, while winning six of their last 10 games.  The Growlers are eighth in the standings, nine games back of first.
  • Growler fans have continued to show support for the new team in Kalamazoo, as the Growlers are third in the lead in attendance only trailing the La Crosse Loggers and Madison Mallards.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

  • After facing the Kingfish, the Growlers will become road warriors again as they face another four game road trip with the first stop being against the Wisconsin Woodchucks. The Growlers will then travel to face the Kingfish again in the final two games.
  • The Growlers will be back in action at home on Monday June 30, for a day-night double-header against the rival Battle Creek Bombers. First game will be at Homer Stryker Field starting at noon as its Skip Work Day and Little Caesars .25 cent pizza slice night! The Growlers will then travel to Battle Creek for the night cap against the Bombers beginning at 7:05 p.m.
