Kalamazoo, MI — The Kalamazoo Growlers have officially announced their first group of signees for the 2019 season, consisting of three players from the Mid- American Conference (MAC) and a pair from San Diego State University of the Mountain West (MW). The Growlers bolster their pitching staff with the addition of Central Michigan right-handed pitchers Jordan Patty and Logan Buczkowski, Ohio University righty Eamon Horwedel, and SDSU right-hander Mike Paredes. Paredes’ college teammate, Anthony Walters, will be added to a talented rotation of infielders this summer.

Patty, a 6-1 sophomore from Midland, Mich., was a versatile contributor in his freshman season with the Chippewas in 2018. Patty played in 42 games with 29 starts as an infielder, tallying 13 hits with one double and six RBIs. On the mound, Patty appeared in seven games out of the bullpen with a 2.25 ERA and 13 strikeouts through 12 innings of work.
Buczkowski, a 6-3 sophomore from Mount Pleasant, Mich., made 18 appearances and six starts on the bump in his freshman campaign last spring. He finished 2-1, compiling 53 strikeouts over 38 2/3 frames and held opponents to just a .171 batting average. Another MAC product, Eamon Hordwedel, enters his freshman season for the Ohio Bobcats coming off a prestigious high school career. The Ann Arbor native earned first team all-conference and all-district honors after compiling a 6-2 record with a 0.64 ERA and 69 strikeouts in his senior campaign. Horwedel holds school records for strikeouts in a single game (13), along with fewest walks (5), ERA (0.64), opponent batting average (.155), and wins (6).
Paredes, a 5-11 freshman from San Diego, enters his first collegiate season with the Aztecs this spring. Paredes posted a strong four-year varsity career at San Diego High School where he put together a .382 career average with 117 total hits. On the mound, Paredes served as a reliable bullpen arm with a 2.02 career ERA in 48 total appearances. He tossed an impressive 182 strikeouts over four years in 166 2/3 innings of work.
Walters, a 6-1 junior from Corona, Ca., ventures to San Diego State after spending two years at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Ca. In his 2018 sophomore season, Walters was a force at the dish with a .374 average through 45 games played. He tallied 61 total hits with 10 home runs, 20 doubles, three triples and 62 RBIs for the Mounties, while posting an impressive .718 slugging percentage.
