The La Crosse Loggers notched a pair of runs in the late innings to become winners in Wisconsin Rapids by a final score of 4-2 Monday night.  It was the Loggers fifth win already this year against the Rafters and moved the La Crosse to one game behind the first place Lakeshore Chinooks in the Northwoods League South.

The Loggers took the lead early Monday night from Witter Field when first basemen, Ryan Kirby (San Diego), blasted a two-run home run in the top of the second inning.  The home run was Kirby's second of the season.

Loggers starter, Kevin Roy (Columbia), dazzled yet again, pitching six shutout innings, allowing just three hits and one walk, while fanning nine Rafters.

The game was tied 2-2 going into the eighth, when Kirby struke again.  The Livermore, CA native, cracked a double to score shortstop, Sulliam Rios Reyes (Kirkwood CC) and give the Loggers the lead.

Mike Nadratowski (Grand Valley State) hit a sacrifice fly in the ninth to score newly activated right fielder, Jack Meggs (Washington), and give La Crosse a crucial insurance run.

In the bottom of the ninth Loggers' closer, Breckin Williams (Missouri), came on to get his sixth save of the season.

The Loggers and Rafters will conclude their series finale Tuesday night in cranberry country.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.  The game can be heard live on The Loggers Nation Station, Eagle 102.7 FM.  Air time is set for 6:30.
