La Crosse, Wisc. – The Loggers were running on all cylinders after their walkoff win last night. They shutout the last place Kalamazoo Growlers. Chris Tate (Trinity) got his first victory as a Logger, pitching a 8 inning shutout.

The Loggers came out swinging from the start of the game. Mason McCoy (Iowa) singled on a hit by Jordan Pearce (Nevada). Brock Lundquist (Long Beach State) walked and scored with Pearce on a single by Chris Baker (Washington).

Two more runs crossed in the 2nd and 3rd innings on a Will Savage (Columbia) singled and ground-rule double by Chris Baker.

More insurance runs scored for the Loggers when two Chris Baker and Michael Echavia (Chabot) both walked and scored on hits by Luis Trevino (Navarro JC) and Mason McCoy. McCoy went 3-for-4 on the night, which upped his hits total to 105, only 2 behind the Northwoods League record held by Luis Rivera for Waterloo in 1995.

Chris Tate (Trinity) pitched a gem, going 8 scoreless innings. He gave up only 3 hits and struck out 8 Growlers. Nolan Gromacki (Missouri) came in 9th to finish the game off to secure the Logger victory 7-0.

The win, combined with a loss by Lakeshore against Battle Creek, clinches a playoff berth for the Loggers. Currently, La Crosse is 38-28 and in the fourth seed. If they were able to climb to number two before the end of the season, then first game of the playoffs will be in La Crosse.

Mason McCoy, Ronnie Gideon, Brock Lundquist, and Jordan Jess are the Loggers playing in the 4:05 game in Warner Park.
