LA CROSSE, WI – After two weekend thrillers, the La Crosse Loggers were looking to make it three wins in a row at The Lumberyard. The game would get started a half hour late due to scattered thunderstorms moving throughout the area, but it would turn out to be a calm night for some baseball. Unfortunately, the Loggers could not minimize the errors and tame the bats of the Border Cats, which would result in a 3-12 loss. This drops the Loggers to 4-10 on the season.
RHP Mason McMahon (UW-La Crosse) started on the mound. McMahon would allow four runs on four hits and the Border Cats would not look back from there. It seemed that no matter the pitcher. the opposing bats had an answer. Grant Ford (Nevada), Ryan Anderson (Nevada), and Chris Boettcher (Indianapolis) all made relief appearances. Also not helping the Logger pitchers out much were the six crucial errors committed, which made for long, tiresome innings. RHP Blaze Bohall would get the win for the Border Cats tonight.
One would think that the Loggers struggled at the plate tonight, but that was not quite the case. Managing to tally 11 total hits on the night, the Loggers just failed to string something together besides in the bottom of the third inning when they found themselves only down one at the time. Leading the Logger bats tonight were Korey Lee (California) going 2-for-3 with one double and RBI, Nick Kahle (Washington) going 3-for-4 including a double, and Grant Judkins (Iowa) going 1-for-5 with two RBI.
The La Crosse Loggers will have a much needed off day tomorrow and be right back at it with a doubleheader against the Rochester Honkers on Wednesday, June 14. The doubleheader will consist of a home game starting at 12:05 PM and then an away game at 7:05 PM. Gates will open at 11:00 AM.
