WILLMAR, MN – The La Crosse Loggers scored early and often on Thursday night in Willmar, Minn. en route to a 17-1 victory over the host Stingers at Bill Taunton Stadium.

An eight-run second inning propelled the Lumbermen into an early lead and they never looked back.  Those were more than enough runs for La Crosse starter Derik Beauprez (Nova SE) who tossed five solid innings, limiting Willmar to just one run on four hits … Sam Messina (Army) tossed the final four innings of shutout baseball to secure the victory.

The seventeen runs were a season-high for the Loggers, propelled by 17 hits.  Every Logger that played had at least one hit and Cam Blake (Texas A & M) led the way with a three-hit night in his Logger debut matching Luke Rassmussen (Long Beach State), who also collected three safeties and drove in five runs.  Cameron Cannon (Arizona) also collected five RBI's including his first home run of the season, a grand slam in sixth inning.

The same two teams will meet again on Friday in Willmar for a 7:05 p.m. start.  Air time on the Logger Nation Station, the Eagle 102.7 FM, is set for 6:35 p.m.
