The La Crosse Loggers won their annual 4th of July classic Friday night by beating the Wisconsin Woodchucks 8-2 in Wausau.
Second basemen, Ryne Birk (Texas A&M) went 3-3 with one run scored, and two RBI and right fielder, Luke Persico (UCLA) notched his second HR of the season on a solo shot in top of the seventh inning. First basemen, Nick Kanavas (Arizona), also added two RBI in the winning cause.
Starter, Marc Frazier (Nicholls State), lasted four innings, allowing one run (earned), on four hits, while walking two and striking out three. Reliever Jacob Dorris (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) pitched four scoreless innings as well.
The Loggers and Woodchucks will finish up their two-game series Saturday night from Athletic Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
