Mark Ecker (Texas A&M) was able to dominate in his first start of the season Saturday night as the Loggers beat the Chinooks 3-2 from the Lumberyard.

Ecker, who normally comes out of the bullpen, was able to throw six innings, allowing just two runs (earned), on five hits, while walking three, and striking out four.  Ecker will look to widen his role next year at Texas A&M, hopefully ultimately becoming a starter.

Reliever, Steven Piette (Augsberg), was able to pick up right where Ecker left off by throwing three innings of scoreless baseball to pick up the save.  Piette's final line read, three innings, no runs, on just two hits, while walking one and striking out four.

The Loggers picked up their runs in the second and third innings.  First, Jerrod Bravo (Sacramento City CC), was able to single home the red hot Mitch Bevacqua (Washington) to put the Loggers on the board.  Then in the third,  Nash Knight (Dallas Baptist) would hit an RBI single to score Aaron Knapp (California).  Knight would score on a Bevacqua ground out to first base.

The two teams will finish up the regular season Sunday evening from Copeland Park on La Crosse's north side.  First pitch is slated for 5:05.
