LA CROSSE, WI – The first game of a seven-game road trip did not go as planned on Friday night as the La Crosse Loggers fell to the Kalamzoo Growlers 7-3 in front of 3,028 fans at Homer Stryker Field.

The Lumbermen jumped on top early in this one plating two runs in the top of the first inning thanks to a two-out RBI single from Grant Fennell (Nevada) and an RBI double off the bat of Riley Adams (San Diego).

That lead was short-lived however as Kalamzaoo used a two-out RBI single from Corey Dempster to score two runs and then two more runs came around to score, including Dempster, on two La Crosse errors giving the Growlers a lead they would not relinquish.

Nolan Gromacki (Missouri) took the loss for the Loggers on the mound after allowing four runs, two earned, over 4.1 innings pitched.

The Loggers offense produced seven hits on the night led by Jordan Zimmerman (Michigan State) and Alex Merritt (North Florida) who each had a pair of safeties.

The loss drops the Loggers to 12-12 on the year.  The same two teams will meet again on Saturday night at Homer Stryker Field with the first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m. (Central).  John Pappadopolous has the call on the Loggers Radio Network beginning at 5:30 p.m.
