Jacob Colwell, a senior at Saint Mary's University (Winona, MN) studying Sports Management, has taken on the challenge of contacting many former Rochester Honkers players and coaches. What’s your favorite memory while playing for the Rochester Honkers?
BB: Kangaroo Court sessions held by Judge Fleenor
What’s your favorite non playing memory from your time with the Rochester Honkers (Host Family, Experience, Bus Ride, etc.)
BB: Hanging at the Archer household, Kim was my host mom w/ Cali & Sean
Who was your favorite teammate when you played for the Rochester Honkers and why?
BB: Iowa boys, Vitense – Mattiace – Jensen, we had our Big Ten rivalry before and after, plus they were good dudes.
What has happened to you since you left Rochester and what are you doing now?
BB: Peaked in the Frontier League and went into the business of sports. Recently the GM of Daytona Cubs (Chicago High-A) and now VP of Historic Dodgertown, a multi-sport destination for tournaments and camps. Lourdes High School is scheduled to visit this spring.
What was your biggest realization while playing for the Rochester Honkers?
BB: There were a lot of good ballplayers from all over at different Divisions. And that my girlfriend at the time would end up my wife.
Do you still stay in contact with former teammates? If so who?
BB: Not really, living in FL for 10 years hasn’t helped. Stay in touch with Litzinger for his elaborate knowledge in the business of sports!
