What’s your favorite memory while playing for the Rochester Honkers?
WW: As a non-player, I will answer this in #2
What's your favorite non playing memory from your time with the Rochester Honkers?
WW: Being with the Honkers as GM on day 1 of the franchise’s existence and building it up from scratch is a particularly meaningful, enduring memory. Working with Dan Litzinger, Dick Radatz, Tom Carr, and Larry Owens, as well as with members of the local media like Pat Lund, Dan O’Hara and Matt Montgomery, it was very gratifying knowing that together we were establishing a new sports franchise that residents in the surrounding communities would be able to enjoy for years to come.
Who was your favorite player when you worked for the Rochester Honkers and why?
WW: Probably my favorite player in my 3 years with the Honkers was Dan Kneeshaw. In his 2nd season with the Honkers in 1995, he helped us out with some front office duties so I got to know him better than most of the other players that came through Rochester during my tenure. I remember being impressed with the confidence and directness he exhibited at such a young age.
What has happened to you since you left Rochester and what are you doing now?
WW: Immediately after leaving the Honkers after the 1996 season I moved back to my hometown in California to attend business school at Santa Clara University. After getting my MBA in 1998 I began a 2nd career in finance working for Household Credit Services, Metris Companies, HSBC and now Target. In 2000 I moved back to Minnesota and in 2001 rejoined the Northwoods League as an umpire supervisor. This year I completed my 14th season in that role. In 2013 I married my wife, Teri. We each have two kids from a previous marriage and reside in Minnetonka, MN.
What was your biggest realization while working for the Rochester Honkers?
WW: That Dan Litzinger and I comprised the best looking front office in the Northwoods League!
Do you stay in contact with former co-workers? If so, who?
WW: I am facebook friends with Dan Kneeshaw and keep in contact with Dan Litzinger. I have also had contact with Larry Owens.
