What’s your favorite memory while working for the Rochester Honkers?
MW: That’s a no-brainer: calling the decisive game of 2009 NWL championship series. That team was so much fun and they were loaded with talent.
What's your favorite non working memory from your time with the Rochester Honkers?
MW: I enjoyed my once-a-summer breakfasts with the Roellinger family. It was incredibly kind of them to invite me into their home. I will also never forget manager Rusty McNamara’s comment, “I’m about to fill this bus with uppercuts” on the bus ride home after a particular bad loss, when the team was a bit too jovial. I still use it to this day. Mac was the perfect guy for that team.
Who was your favorite teammate when you worked for the Rochester Honkers and why?
MW: I didn’t have teammates, obviously, but I loved the press box staff at Mayo Field. We always found a way to keep ourselves entertained.
What has happened to you since you left Rochester and what are you doing now?
MW: I took over as the play-by-play voice at Nicholls State University and currently serve as the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications at the school.
What was your biggest realization while working for the Rochester Honkers?
MW: I’m not sure if I really had any grand revelations. I was older and more experienced than most of the young guys broadcasting in the league and had been through the grind a few times already. It allowed me to have more fun.
Do you stay in contact with former teammates? If so, who?
MW: I still stay in touch with general manager Dan Litzinger. One of my colleagues, Erik Solberg, served as the Voice of the Honkers in 2014..
