Illinois and UC Irvine Continue to send Players to Rochester.

(Rochester, Minn.) –  The Rochester Honkers have announced the signings of Zak Devermann and Mike Peabody.

Devermann is a 6-foot-2, 210-pound left-handed pitcher from the University of Illinois. This season, the junior has made one appearance, throwing one inning.

During Devermanns sophomore campaign, he made 13 appearances compiling a 1-1 record. He threw 9 1/3 innings and struck out nine. He finished with a 4.82 ERA. Devermann threw three innings his freshman year giving up four runs and striking out two. At Oswego East High School, Devermann struck out 70 over 47 innings. He earned a 2.55 ERA.

Illinois is currently 6-3 on the season and continues play this weekend  in Greenville, S.C.  Devermann is current teammates with returning Honker and Rochester native, Michael Michalak.

Peabody is a freshman outfielder at UC Irvine. He stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 190 pounds. This season, Peabody has seen nine at-bats, with one hit, one walk and scored two runs. He has also stolen one base.

At Mater Dei High School, Peabody hit .350 and showed some speed swiping 21 bases during his two years on the varsity squad. He scored 57 runs and had 15 RBIs. UC Irvine is currently 7-4 this season and continues play this weekend for a four-game set versus Portland in Portland, Ore.

The Rochester Honkers 25th season begins on Tuesday, May 29th when the team hosts the Eau Claire Express in their home opener at Mayo Field at 7:05 pm. 5-Game Packs and Kids Club Memberships are available now!  Season Tickets, ½ Season Plans, Suites and Patios are also available.
