LOVES PARK, Ill. – How’d you like to have a future major-league player live with you?

The Rockford Rivets need a few more homes to fill out their roster of host families. Their inaugural season starts on May 31 and ends August 14.

The host family program is vital to the success of every team in the Northwoods League both on and off the field. Host families house, feed, and provide player with a home away from home, ultimately making the Rivets experience special and rewarding for all involved.

Host families will receive complimentary Rivets season tickets, a 10-percent discount on Rivets merchandise, a free pass to the NWL webcasts, and of course, the chance to meet and host a player who could potentially end up in the big leagues. One out of every six players in last years major-league draft had NWL experience.

Families interested in hosting a player(s) for the 2016 season should contact the Rivets office at 815-240-4159 or email info@rockfordnwl.com.

Rockford is a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League, which will play its 23rd season of summer collegiate baseball in 2016. The Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 18 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, 150 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (Washington Nationals) and MLB All-Stars Chris Sale (Chicago White Sox), Jordan Zimmermann (Detroit Tigers), Curtis Granderson (New York Mets), Lucas Duda (Mets) and Ben Zobrist (Chicago Cubs). All league games are viewable live via the Northwoods League website, NorthwoodsLeague.com.
