LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford Rivets collected 10 hits for the third straight game on Monday, as they beat Battle Creek, 4-3, at Rivets Stadium.

 

The Rivets scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth after the Bombers had rallied from a three-deficit. Rockford leadoff hitter Cade Bunnell, who was 2-for-5, doubled home the eventual game-winner. 

 

Rockford built an early 3-0 lead. In the second inning, David Cronin singled in a run. In the third, Jacob Vander Wal hit a solo homer and the Rivets added an unearned run later in the inning.

 

Battle Creek rallied for a run in the fourth inning and tied the game with two unearned runs in the fifth.

 

Joe Romero (1-0) pitched 1 1/3 innings of hitless relief for the win.

 

Max Ritchie (0-4) took the loss in a three-inning relief appearance. In the eighth, Gavin Johnson singled with one out. With two outs, Bunnell doubled to left to drive in Johnson.
