LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford Rivets are adding another arm to their already deep pitching staff.

The Rivets announced Wednesday that Parkland College (Champaign, Illinois) right-handed pitcher Evan Snyder will join the team’s roster for the Northwoods League season, which begins next week.

In 13 appearances for Parkland this season, including eight starts, Snyder has posted a 6-1 record with a stellar 1.32 ERA and 57 strikeouts in 47.2 innings of work. The right-hander has tossed one complete game and has one save, while owning an impressive 10.76 K/9 ratio for the year.

“Evan is coming off a great season at Parkland and we’re excited to add a pitcher of that caliber to our staff,” Rivets manager Brian Smith said. “Former Rivet, Cory Wright (a current teammate of Snyder’s at Parkland), had a lot of influence in our decision to bring Evan in. We like to have certain personality traits in our clubhouse, and it sounds like Evan is going to fit right in.”

Snyder has thrown the fourth-most innings of anyone on the Parkland pitching staff, and has been a key contributor all season for the Cobras, who are competing for the NJCAA Division II World Series title.

The Rivets’ season begins May 30 at Kalamazoo. The home opener is at 6:35 p.m. June 1 against the Wisconsin Woodchucks. The Rivets are offering a $50 four-game pack that includes a replica Rivets jersey, tickets to four select games and all-you-can-eat food (burgers, brats, hot dogs, grilled chicken, popcorn and fountain soda) for the following dates: Friday, June 2; Saturday, June 24; Friday, July 14; Friday, July 28. The four-pack can be purchased only by calling the Rivets at 815.240.4159 or in person at the Rivets Stadium box office. There are a limited number of jerseys available, so don’t wait to order this four-pack.
