LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford Rivets dropped the second game of their two game series Tuesday morning at Rivets stadium as they lost to Wisconsin Rapids by a score of 11-2 and split the series.

The Rivets put up eight runs in one inning in Monday’s blowout win over the Rafters and on Tuesday Wisconsin Rapids returned the favor. They managed to put up nine runs in the top of the sixth and never looked back.

Despite the Rivets giving up 11 runs, their pitchers had respectable outings. Chase Kueter pitched 5.2 innings and had three earned runs with a walk and three strikeouts. In total, the four Rivets pitchers that made appearances only gave up three earned runs. Errors plagued Rockford as they gave up six unearned runs with three errors

An offensive highlight of the day came in the bottom of the fourth inning when left fielder Connor Rutherford put the Rivets ahead with his first home run of the year to put them up 1-0. Rutherford and first baseman Braden Mosley both finished the day with two hits each.

Rockford will look to bounce back tomorrow when they take on the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders at Rivets stadium at 6:35 pm. Fond du Lac swept the Rivets in their last two game series last week

Tickets for the Rockford Rivets are available for purchase, including our 5-Game Pack which now costs only $60. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Rivets’ Ticket Office at (815) 240-4159.
