The Rockford Rivets prevailed with an 8-4 victory over the Traverse City Pit Spitters on Wednesday. The middle of the order stayed solid providing 6 runs scored for the Rockford squad by Vander Wal, Lilly, and Figus.

Manger Josh Keim spoke on the hitting performance: “Today we hammered home. Our goal every night is to go out there as one group of solid hitters, and our guys are really buying into that idea quickly. We reached every goal we wanted to accomplish tonight.”

Perhaps the player of the game for Rockford was Tim Lilly. Lilly reached 3 times on a 2 RBI double, and two walks, scoring each time he was on base. Lilly also had a productive night at 3rd base.

Josh Keim spoke with the media about Lilly’s performance: “Tim provided a great spark for our lineup tonight. He made some hitting adjustments, and really capitalized on those tweaks.”

The Rivets are back in action Thursday at Choice Furniture Field at Rivets Stadium for the series finale at 6:35.
