Rockford, IL – [7/29/2023] – The Rockford Rivets engaged in a thrilling battle against the Kokomo Jackrabbits in the series opener. In an intense matchup, the Rivets fell short in a walk-off win for the Jackrabbits, with both teams displaying tremendous effort on the field.

The game started with both teams remaining silent behind the plate for the first three innings. However, Kokomo struck first in the 4th inning, with Tatsunori Negishi bringing in Vincent Temesvary for the first run of the game. The Jackrabbits extended their lead with two more runs in the 6th inning, making it 3-0.

In the top of the 7th inning, the Rivets made a significant push to get back in the game. Loading the bases with Rivets players, Brendan Summerhill delivered a powerful triple into left field, bringing the Rivets on the board with two runs.

Continuing their offensive momentum, the Rivets managed to tie the score in the 8th inning when Bennett Eltoft smashed a home run near right field.

The game intensified as it went into extra innings. In the top of the 10th, the Rivets displayed determination and skill, scoring early with hits from Wyatt Morgan and TJ Williams, putting them ahead 5-3.

However, the Jackrabbits managed a remarkable comeback in the bottom of the 10th. The Rivets’ pitching staff faced challenges, walking three batters, and ultimately allowed Jack Anderson to deliver a walk-off win, securing the victory for Kokomo with a final score of 6-3.
