Rockford, IL – [8/10/2023] – The Rockford Rivets delivered a memorable finale to their season with a thrilling extra-inning victory against the Kokomo Jackrabbits at Rivets Stadium. The game, which was filled with electrifying moments, not only showcased the team’s resilience but also marked the end of an exceptional season.
In what proved to be a slow start for the Rivets during their final home game, the Kokomo Jackrabbits took an early 3-0 lead. However, the momentum shifted after the 7th inning stretch, igniting a riveting comeback that would define the game.
The bats came to life as Wyatt Morgan’s double brought Nick Demarco across the plate. Conner Allen’s subsequent single scored Wyatt Morgan, followed by Bradley White’s double that allowed Conner Allen to score, narrowing the gap to just one run.
Heading into the 9th inning, the Rivets found themselves trailing by a single run. The stage was set for a captivating moment when Conner Allen’s walk to first base was followed by Bradley White’s explosive triple, tying the score 4-4.
As the game headed into extra innings, Evan Jones showcased his prowess on the mound by striking out two opponents, fueling an electric celebration. With the stage set for the bottom of the 10th inning, David Bishop’s strategic play advanced the automatic runner, Brendan Summerhill, to third base. The unforgettable finale arrived when the beloved Bennett Eltoft delivered a game-winning single to center field, sealing the Rivets’ victory.
Although the Rivets’ outstanding and record-breaking season fell short of securing a playoff spot, the team remains proud of their achievements and the loyal fans who stood by them.
