Waterloo, IA – The Waterloo Bucks (8–11) only collected two hits in their first game of the 2023 season against the Duluth Huskies (9–8), losing 4–2.

The Bucks scored a run in the bottom of the first, but the Huskies would go on a run of four unanswered runs, highlighted by a solo home run from Brandon Compton. Bucks infielder Drake Westcott would hit a home run of his own to inch his team closer, but that was the last hit they recorded for the rest of the game.

Bucks starting pitcher Aaron Savary made his second start of the season and was solid for three innings before giving up three runs across the fourth and fifth innings. The Bucks bullpen held the Huskies to one more run, but the run support never came.

The Bucks will look to bounce back against the Huskies on Sunday. First pitch for that game is slated for 2:35 p.m.
