On March 24, the Waterloo Bucks have announced Tyler Katz will handle broadcasting duties for the organization during the 2022 season. Katz, who is currently a junior at Virginia Tech, will be the play-by-play broadcaster for both the team’s Northwoods League TV Network webcasts and online audio broadcasts.
Katz is a native of Davie, Florida, a suburb of Fort Lauderdale, and is in the midst of his junior year at Virginia Tech where he is majoring in Sports Media and Analytics. Tyler is the Media Manager for 3304 Sports, a student run sports media platform at Virginia Tech that covers Tech athletic events through broadcasts, articles, and other mediums. He has also been featured on the ACC Network Extra. Katz currently serves as the public address announcer for Virginia Tech baseball and volleyball. In 2021, Katz was the Broadcast Intern for the Pierre Trappers of the Expedition League.
Katz will broadcast all 36 Waterloo home games on the NWLTV video webcast platform hosted by Stretch Internet. For Bucks road games, Katz will act as the team’s announcer for the ballclub’s audio broadcasts which will be streamed online at www.waterloobucks.com.
“I’m counting down the days until I get up to Waterloo this summer,” Katz said. “I’ve never been Iowa, nor Minnesota or Wisconsin, so, I’m excited to see new parts of the country while doing what I love!”
