THE ULTIMATE INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE

Are you a passionate, hard-working and driven college student looking for real-world experience in sports? Then an internship with the Rochester Honkers is for you! The Honkers have several internships available for both the spring semester and summer season. Honkers interns not only learn what it takes to run a baseball club on a daily basis, but also get the opportunity to work in an exciting, fast-paced environment.

Come work with an established summer collegiate team and connect yourself with a growing league as you gain valuable experience while having a season you’ll never forget!

The Rochester Honkers provide you the opportunity to be involved in every possible aspect of the organization, which may include tickets sales, on-field promotions, concessions management, merchandising, media relations, video production and more. Joining our team also gives you the opportunity to work for a five-time champion of the Northwoods League.

The Honkers season is a fun-filled 72-game schedule with 36 home games at historic Mayo Field. Full-time internships start during the spring semester and run through the summer season.  Summer internships run approximately from mid-May until the third week of August. Housing may also be available for select internships.

Ticket Sales Internship 

  • Coordinate renewals of all flex plans, etc.
  • Call on all warm leads to upsell ticket packages to single game buyers
  • Generate leads, prospecting for new potential buyers
  • Work in Ticket Window on gamedays to sell tickets to walk-up buyers

Community Relations Internship – FILLED

  • Assist with set up on-field performances from community programs
  • Coordinate National Anthem performances
  • Assist with player and mascot appearances in community
  • Assist in coordinating all fundraisers on gamedays for non-profits
  • Assist in coordinating all Dream Teams and High Five Teams on gamedays

Social Media/Promotions Internship  – FILLED

  • Lead all social media platforms for the Honkers including but not limited to the following: Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, TikTok, LinkedIn
  • Coordinate and create content to run on said platforms on a regular basis to promote the Honkers brand and experience on gamedays
  • Assist in Honkers gameday ballpark setup needs
  • Assist in carrying out the in-game/on-field promotions at every Honker home game

Corporate Hospitality Internship 

  • Assist with Director of Group Sales on prospecting for new business
  • Work with group outing leaders on coordinating logistics for outing at the ballpark
    • Ex: Final numbers, menu, payment, and ticket delivery
  • Assist with executing outings at Mayo Field

Operations/Promotions Internship – FILLED

  • Assist with Clubhouse needs for Honkers players
  • Assist Operations Director in executing of gameday itineraries including but not limited to pre/post game meals and team laundry
  • Assist in Honkers gameday ballpark setup needs
  • Assist in carrying out the in-game/on-field promotions at every Honker home game

Broadcasting/Media Relations Internship  – FILLED

  • Serve as the on-air “Voice of the Honkers” for all video broadcasts of Honkers home games
  • Work with the Video Team to ensure all gameday broadcasts are an elite presentation
  • Write and publish game recaps on the Honkers website for all games (home and away)
  • Assist with Social Media postings/updates that are team-related when Honkers are on the road
  • Create the “Daily Goose” publications on gamedays to highlight the matchup, standings, statistics etc.

Video Director Internship  – FILLED

  • Coordinate the planning, carryout, and execution of all broadcasts for Honkers home games
  • Serve as the on-air Director of the Video Team for all Honkers home games
  • Work with the Northwoods League to make sure all requirements meet the standard of the League
  • Work with ESPN+ and other outside affiliates on special occasions to make sure their needs are met
  • Work with the Video Production/Graphics Coordinator to create, build, and produce Honkers pre-game shows on gamedays
  • Internship includes online/tutorial training as provided by the Northwoods League

Video Production/Graphics Internship – FILLED

  • Coordinate the planning, carryout, and execution of all broadcasts for Honkers home games
  • Upload team and league commercials to run during games
  • Ensure graphics for the season have been imported into the system
  • Work with the Northwoods League to make sure all requirements meet the standard of the League
  • Work with ESPN+ and other outside affiliates on special occasions to make sure their needs are met
  • Work with the Video Production Director to create, build, and produce Honkers pre-game shows on gamedays
  • Breakdown highlights/replays on a gameday bases to send to social media teams, news affiliates, and/or the Northwoods League
  • Internship includes online/tutorial training as provided by the Northwoods League

Music/Entertainment Internship 

  • Be the DJ for all Honkers home games!
  • Set playlists for designated theme nights and nightly promotions
  • Work with players on walkup music
  • Build database of song catalog in Honkers music computer

Retail Management Internship 

  • Oversee all inventory during the season
  • Oversee and implement the Honkers Online Store during the season
  • Track all inventory, cost of goods, gross sales, and report to General Manager and accountant as needed
  • Run the National Fleet Graphics Retail Store at Mayo Field for all home games, executing sales
