WATERLOO, IOWA- Incredible defense and timely hitting propelled the Waterloo Bucks (15-4) to their eighth straight victory in a 6-2 defeat of the Rochester Honkers (9-10) on Father's Day (June 18).

The game was scoreless until the top of the fourth inning when Nathan Walker (3-1) allowed four consecutive walks with two outs putting the Honkers on the board first 1-0.

Waterloo was not going to let that run go unanswered as John Cable brought in the tying run in the bottom of the fourth on an infield single. In the same inning, Josh Elvir lined a single to left putting the Bucks in front 2-1. The next batter, Drew Greenwood scored John Cable on an RBI sacrifice fly to left field but Elvir was doubled up at first base to end the inning. Cable crossed home plate in time though to make it 3-1 Bucks after four innings.

In the top of the fifth inning with two outs and a runner on base, Weston Hatten punched the ball to right field but Jay Schuyler robbed him of an extra base hit with a sensational full extension catch.

When Schuyler came up to bat in the bottom of the fifth he promptly lined a RBI single to left field adding to the Bucks advantage. Beau O'Hara (1-1) surrendered four earned runs in five innings of work for Rochester.

After a five inning outing from Walker, the bullpen was solid the rest of the way but that didn't mean the offense had to stop. Elvir delivered another RBI single in the bottom of the sixth and in the eighth, Dalton Hurd lined a double to left field as the Bucks took a 6-1 lead into the ninth inning.

The Honkers did not record a hit until the top of ninth when inning when Jordan Hart hit a high fly ball over the head of the center fielder Keaton Presley to break up the combined no hitter. Chris Ceballos drove in another Rochester run on an RBI sac-fly but that's all that the Honkers left in the tank as the Bucks took the decision 6-2.

The Bucks continue their five game home stand tomorrow, June 19 at 6:35 p.m. when the Thunder Bay Border Cats return to town on Buck Night.
