Cameron Amsrud, Milwaukee Panther righty and DC Everest alumnus, has signed with his hometown Wisconsin Woodchucks for the 2011 season.

The Oakland Athletics will begin Spring Training play in three days in Phoenix, AZ and a familiar NWL face will be on their 40-man roster. That familiar face will be Josh Willingham who played in the NWL in 1998 and 1999 for the Austin Southern Minny Stars.

A team can never have enough pitching, especially when the schedule calls for 70 games in 75 days as it does for the 2011 Willmar Stingers. The Stingers are currently building this year’s roster with that mentality in mind.

In today’s segment of ‘NWL Alumni in Spring Training’ we will focus on the Houston Astros franchise. The Astros currently have 10 plus former NWL players in their organization with Clint Barmes and Mark Melancon in the Major Leagues.

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters continued to piece together their 2011 roster by announcing the signings of right-handed pitcher Michael Russo (Kean University) and speedy outfielder Curtis Frisbie (University of Nevada-Reno).

The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced today that left-handed pitcher Phil Haig, will return for his 4th consecutive season with the Rochester Honkers. Haig becomes the 1st Rochester Honker to play four seasons with the team.

The Madison Mallards have signed a pair of University of Tennessee-Martin teammates for the 2011 season in junior outfielder Jordan Owen and sophomore pitcher Dan Tobik.
