Just when it looked like the comeback kids were about to steal another one, the Waterloo Bucks gave the Eau Claire Express a dose of their own medicine by scoring twice in the bottom of the tenth inning to win 8-7, giving Eau Claire its fourth loss in five tries.
Down 7-3 headed to the top of the eighth, the Express scored twice in the top of the eighth on a passed ball to score Tyler Hermann and later on a Brady Burzynski RBI single to score Tyler Jones.
Then in the top of the ninth, Eau Claire tied it on a two-run single from Brent Gibbs to plate Hermann and Lane Milligan.
After Eric Gleese held the Bucks scoreless in the bottom of the ninth, the Express scored one on an RBI fielder's choice from Jones to plate Mike Porcaro, but they could only score one despite having the bases loaded with one out, adding to the theme of the night of leaving guys on base. All in all, Eau Claire stranded 14 runners in the contest.
The Bucks got two consecutive hits to win it in the bottom of the 10th.
Gibbs had an RBI double in the second to score Milligan while Justin Jaquish had an RBI groundout to score Jones in the same inning. Burzynski added an RBI single plating Gibbs in the top of the seventh.
The Express will go on the last stop of their current six-game road trip tomorrow in Duluth to face the Huskies. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. at Wade Stadium
