In the seven games the Eau Claire Express and Waterloo Bucks have played in 2014, Eau Claire has had a lead in all of them, but won just two.
Wednesday night was not one of them, as the Bucks came back to win 3-2 in 11 innings at Riverfront Stadium in Waterloo, Iowa.
After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, the Express scored two unanswered runs to take a 2-1 lead into the eight inning.
Both runs came courteous of Daniel Salters, who drove in Peter Van Gansen in the top of the third on an RBI groundout and then tripled home Jeff Hendrix in the top of the fifth.
But the Bucks got a run back in the eighth and delivered the knockout punch in the 11th when Kevin Kaczmarski singled home the winning run with two outs.
Eau Claire had its chances offensively, collecting 10 hits while stranding 14 guys on base. Brent Gibbs and Van Gansen both had three hits apiece for the orange and black.
On the mound, Conner Rusch was solid in his first start of the summer, going five innings while giving up just one run on three hits. Aron McRee went the next four and gave up one on one hit while striking out three, and Eric Gleese took the tough loss after going 1.2 innings and giving up the game-winning single.
CJ Eldred goes on the mound tomorrow for the Express, who look to get to .500 to start the second half of the season. First pitch for the final contest between these two teams is set for 6:35 p.m. at Riverfront Stadium.
