There's something about the Alexandria Blue Anchors that the Eau Claire Express find particularly appealing.
After a 5-2 win against host Alexandria Thursday night, the Express improved to 7-0 against the North Division foe to stay alive in the second-half standings.
After a scoreless first five innings, the Express broke through on the scoreboard first on a Brian Mundell single to score Brady Burzynski.
The Blue Anchors tied in the bottom half of the inning, but Lane Milligan hit what would be the game-winning home run in the top of the seventh.
Eau Claire tacked on one in the eighth when Alex Call singled in Mundell and two in the ninth when Brent Gibbs scored on a sacrifice fly from Drew Turbin and Burzynski scored on a wild pitch.
Peter Hendron earned the win after going seven innings, allowing just one run and striking out three. MIles Nablo and Taylor Duree finished out the game on the mound.
Drew Turbin tied Daniel Salters for the club lead in RBIs with his one Thursday. They both have 31.
Eau Claire will look to sweep the season series against Alexandria tomorrow at 7:05 p.m.
