Top Ten Moments Countdown #2: CJ Eldred Throws 78 Pitches in Complete Game Victory
On June 13, 2014, former Express pitcher and Washington Nationals standout Jordan Zimmermann threw a complete game against the St. Louis Cardinals in only 76 pitches. The Nationals lost the game 1-0 and spoiled an amazing pitching performance from the Wisconsin native.
Less than a month later, 2014 Express pitching sensation and now 2015 returner CJ Eldred pitched a 78-pitch complete game gem of his own in Waterloo, IA, leading the Express to a 6-1 victory over the Bucks on July 3rd. Eldred’s command was on point as he painted corners and controlled all of his pitches perfectly throwing a whopping 58 of his 78 pitches for strikes.
What may be most remarkable about Eldred’s performance was that Bucks batters befuddled by Eldred as he consistently forced Waterloo to hit into weak ground balls and lazy popups. In fact, Eldred commanded his pitches so well that he threw only eight pitches in the third inning, eight pitches in the fourth, seven pitches in the fifth, eight pitches in the sixth, four pitches in the seventh, and five pitches in the eighth.

Eldred will now bring that experience, control, and dominance back to Carson Park for the 2015 season as one of the returning players for the Express.
Congratulations to CJ Eldred for having the #2 Top Moment of the Express 2014 season with his 78-pitch gem in Waterloo.
