Four More Added to 2015 Express Roster
Eau Claire, WI – The Eau Claire Express announced today that four more players have joined the 2015 Express roster. Jeff Albrecht (LHP, Creighton), Scotland Church (RHP/OF, Oregon State), David Hensley (UTIL, San Diego State), and Trent Shelton (LHP, Oregon State) solidify an already impressive 2015 Express roster.
Jeff Albrecht (LHP) is originally from Omaha, Nebraska and is currently a sophomore for his hometown school of Creighton University. Albrecht started nine games as a freshman for the Bluejays posting a 5.15 ERA and striking out 24 batters in 36.2 innings pitched. Albrecht has shown great improvement from his freshman campaign to his sophomore season having posted a 1.89 ERA in 19.0 innings pitched for the Bluejays so far in 2015.
Scotland Church (RHP/OF) originally hails from Lubbock, Texas and is a sophomore this season for Oregon State. Church is a transfer from Weatherford Community College where he played as a freshman batting .408 with 20 doubles, three home runs, and 45 RBI in 2014. Church also posted a 1-1 record from the bump with a 4.82 ERA and two saves as a freshman. In 2015 for the Beavers, Church has not given up a run from the mound in 2.2 innings pitched and has a .333 on-base percentage as a batter.
David Hensley (Util) is starting his freshman campaign for San Diego State University and played his prep ball at Patrick Henry High School in San Diego. Hensley batted .320 in his senior high school season and also posted a .440 on-base percentage with 15 stolen bases. Thus far in his freshman season for the Aztecs, Hensley is batting .395 with 10 runs scored, six RBI, and a .489 on-base percentage.
Trent Shelton (LHP) is a sophomore this season for Oregon State by way of Lafeyette, California. Shelton pitched in 16 games last season for the Beavers sporting a 4.72 ERA and posting two saves. Shelton has had a solid start to his sophomore season as well having pitched 2.2 innings in four relief appearances and has given up only one earned run to date.
The Express begin their 11th season of play in the Northwoods League on May 26th as they take on the Border Cats in Thunder Bay. Eau Claire’s home opener is scheduled for May 28th versus the Duluth Huskies. First pitch of that contest will be at 6:35 PM.
