Brody Rodning pitched 8 scoreless innings and led Eau Claire to a sweep of the Alexandria Blue Anchors on Sunday night by a score of 3-0 at Carson Park.

Rodning only gave up 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4 batters to earn his second win of the season and lower his ERA to 3.31.

“I went out and tried pitching like I normally do,” said Rodning. “Throw strikes, go at batters, try and limit the walks. The defense came up huge tonight.”

Nathan Krause started at catcher for the Express and led the charge at the plate for Eau Claire going 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored. Daulton Varsho got his first start in center field and went 1 for 3 with an RBI triple in the 5th inning.

Ryan Schlosser came in to pitch the 9th inning where he earned the save with a scoreless inning. It was the first time this season the Eau Claire pitching staff held the other team to zero runs.

“Mentally you stay focused, got to throw strikes watch the defense work behind you like they did,” said Rodning.

With the win the Express improve to 8-11 on the season. Eau Claire now hits the road for three days starting with a 2-game series against the Duluth Huskies starting Monday night. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
