Thirteen hits not enough as Express fall behind early
The Eau Claire Express traveled to Duluth Monday night to start a two-game series against the Duluth Huskies at Wade Stadium. The Express totaled thirteen hits in game one but it wouldn’t be enough as Eau Claire fell 10-6.
CJ Eldred got the start on the mound for Eau Claire but only lasted 3.1 innings giving up 8 runs, 4 of them earned, on 9 hits and just one strikeout.
The Huskies scored in each of the first five innings to take a 10-3 lead. The Express would try and crawl back into the game but stranded 11 men on the bases and couldn’t put enough runs together to catch them.
Tyler Adkison got the start in left field for the Express and had a solid night at the plate including a home run. He finished 3 for 4 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. Catcher Daulton Varsho also added a triple on 3 for 5 batting and third baseman Kyle Marinconz continued his stellar season with 2 hits and 2 walks.
Miles Nablo came in and pitched 4.2 innings in relief only allowing 2 runs.
The Express fall to 8-12 on the season with another game versus Duluth on Tuesday. Bryce Hensley is slotted to get the start in that game. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
