Eau Claire clocks 15 hits but falls to WIllmar 8-6
Trying to end a losing skid the Eau Claire Express did everything besides outscore the Willmar Stingers on Saturday at Bill Taunton Stadium, losing by a score of 8-6.
They launched three home runs and two doubles and didn’t commit any errors but still stranded 12 men on base as timely hitting continues to be a problem for Eau Claire.
CJ Eldred got the start for the Express pitching 3.2 innings and allowing 6 runs on 6 hits with 4 walks.
Centerfielder Brady Burzynksi continues his solid season with a 5 for 5 night at the plate including 2 runs scored. Kyle Marinconz started at second base and continues to be a monster at the plate finishing Saturday’s game 2 for 5 including a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning.
Right fielder Tyler Adkison was also 2 for 5 with a solo blast, his fourth of the year. Catcher Daulton and first basemen Daniel Jipping each added two hits a piece while Jipping totaled 3 RBI including launching his first home run of the year with a 2-run shot in the fourth inning.
With the Stingers up 7-4 in the seventh inning the game was delayed due to rain but play continued just over 30 minutes later.
The Express look to keep the bats hot in game two of the series Sunday night as they try and avoid losing their fifth straight game. Bryce Hensley will get the start on the mound as first pitch is set for 6:05 p.m.
