Eau Claire puts up six runs while holding MoonDogs to just three hits
The Eau Claire Express pitching staff allowed just three hits to shutout the Mankato MoonDogs on Thursday night on their way to a 6-0 victory at Franklin Rogers Park.
The Express put up runs in five different innings, getting multiple hit games from three different players.
Anthony Herron Jr. got his first start for the Express and his first win pitching six scoreless innings allowing just three hits and four walks on three strikeouts.
Trent Shelton came in for relief and earned a three inning save by holding the MoonDogs to no hits in their final three at-bats. He struck out five and walked none to crown his perfect outing.
Centerfielder Brady Burzynski had a great day at the plate with three hits, a walk and three runs scored while driving in two. He scored the first run of the game in the top of the first inning and his RBI triple in the eighth helped seal the deal for Eau Claire.
Catcher Nathan Krause would add two hits including a double with a run scored and designated hitter Daulton Varsho also added two hits with an RBI and his fourteenth stolen base of the season.
All of a sudden the Express have turned it around and have won three straight games to improve their record to 3-6 in the second half standings. They stay on the road and go for another series win tomorrow against Mankato again. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
The Express return home to Carson Park next Tuesday for a five game homestand. That game is sponsored by Novo Nordisk and there will be a sunscreen, sport bottle, and jump rope giveaway.
