Two home runs salvage a night to forget for Express offense
Coming off a sweep of Rochester and a three-game winning streak the Eau Claire Express fell tonight to the St. Cloud Rox 7-3 at Joe Faber Field as the road trip continues.
The Express only mustered four hits though two of them were home runs.
The Rox took the lead in the fourth inning and never gave it up as they held Eau Claire hitless until the sixth inning. Brady Burzynski snapped the no-hitter with a solo home run, his second on the season, to put the Express on the board.
Daulton Varsho added two more runs in the ninth inning with his fourth home run of the season but it was too late as that would be the only glimpse of an Express comeback.
Austin Schulfer pitched six innings allowing seven hits and four runs, three of them earned on no walks and one strikeout to drop his record to 2-6.
The Express will try and make it a series split when they battle the Rox at 5:05 p.m. tomorrow night for game two. The team returns back to Carson Park this Wednesday when the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters come to town for a day-night doubleheader with games at 12:05 p.m. and 7:05 p.m.
