Express offense nowhere to be found as lineup only produces one hit
One extra base hit was all the Eau Claire Express got tonight as they fell to the St. Cloud Rox by a score of 6-0 at Joe Faber Field. The Rox swept the two game series and only allowed five total hits in two games to a stagnant Express offense.
Michael Papierski (LSU) got the only hit of the game for the Express with a double in the top of the fifth to break up Lucas Gilbreth’s (Minnesota) no-hitter bid. That was all the Express would manage as the rest of Eau Claire’s batting order would be hitless on the night.
Doug Still (Jefferson College) pitched four innings allowing three hits and two runs, both earned. He gave six Rox batters free passes which helped give Still his third loss in four total starts for the Express this season.
Brady Burzynski would reach base twice with two walks while Joe Gillette and Kyle Marinconz also added a walk each.
The Express now head to Waterloo to finish out a six game road trip. The two game series starts tomorrow night with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m.
The team returns home to Carson Park on Wednesday for a day-night doubleheader against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters with games set for 1:05 p.m. and 7:05 p.m.
