Express earn sweep of Waterloo
Waterloo, IA – The Eau Claire Express wrapped up their road trip tonight against the Waterloo Bucks and did so by busting out the brooms and earning a series sweep with a 15-4 victory at Riverfront Stadium.
The Express jumped on the board in the third inning and never let go of the lead for the entire game. A two run single by left-fielder Austin Listi (Dallas Baptist) and a two-run double from Teddy Cillis (Hofstra) gave Eau Claire a 4-0 lead.
They would add one more run in the sixth but it wasn’t until the final inning when the Express made their statement.
The Express bring fifteen batters to the plate as the lineup explodes for 10 runs to end any threat of a Waterloo comeback.
Every player in the Express lineup hit safely and scored in the game as they total for fifteen hits. Listi finished 2-5 with three RBI while Tyler Adkison (San Diego State) finished with three hits including a double and four runs batted in.
Brady Burzynski (UW-Stout) had three RBI including the RBI single that started the scoring in the Express’s final frame.
Michael Gomez (Cal Poly) got the start and went four innings allowing three hits and two runs to earn no-decision.
Ryan Schlosser (Century CC) earned the win with four innings of scoreless relief. He allowed three hits while striking out three and walking just one.
