Two home runs not enough as win streak snapped
Rochester, Minn. – The Eau Claire Express fell behind early and couldn’t overtake the Rochester Honkers for long as they fell 10-4 tonight at Mayo Field to end their four game winning streak.
Rochester jumped on top in the first inning of the game for an early lead. But a wild pitch would score a run in the third for the Express to tie it and a two run home run from Austin Listi (Dallas Baptist) would give the Express the lead one batter later.
However it would be short lived as the Honkers put up six runs in the bottom of the third to take back the lead which they would never lose.
Trent Shelton (Oregon State) earned the loss giving up seven runs, four of them earned, on five hits and three walks allowed in just 2.2 innings pitched.
Tyler Adkison (San Diego State) would launch his sixth home run of the season in the eighth inning but that solo shot would be the only other Express scoring on the night.
Kyle Marinconz (Cal Poly) was 2-3 with a run scored on the night coming off his walk-off hit on Wednesday night.
The Express return to Carson Park tomorrow to finish the series with the Rochester Honkers. Tomorrow’s game is set for 7:05 p.m. and is the last Fireworks Friday of the season. The game will feature a School Supply Drive and is sponsored by Thrivent Financial.
