Due to a rainout yesterday the Eau Claire Express took on the Alexandria Blue Anchors twice today with two-seven inning double headers at Knute Nelson Memorial Park.

The Express didn’t put up much of a fight in game one where they lost 8-0 but came back and trumped the Blue Anchors 9-4 in game two.

Game one wasn’t ideal as the Express only managed three hits. Tyler Adkison had the only highlight with a double in the first inning.

Ryan Schlosser got the start on the mound and only pitched through two innings while allowing seven hits and six earned runs.

Game two however was a different story as the Express scored runs in the final five innings and broke out for nine runs earning a 9-4 victory.

Kyle Marinconz led the way with three hits and three RBI  including a two-run home run in the third inning. Brady Burzynski added two hits on the night too with a double and two runs batted in.

The Express and Blue Anchors traded runs in the third and fourth innings but then Eau Claire broke free with three in the fifth and never looked back. Ten total hits was the key for the Express after blanking in game one.

Kale Latorre started his first game of the season and went 3.2 innings allowing five hits and three runs. Alex McIntosh earned the win pitching 3.1 innings of relief locking down the Blue Anchors for just one run on five hits.

The Express improve to 29-40 overall after the two games. Tomorrow the Express enter their final series of the season when they travel to Mankato for a two game series against the MoonDogs. Game one is set for 6:05 p.m. CT on Saturday. Listen to all home and away Express games at Mix 98.1 radio and online.
