MoonDogs dig up ninth inning magic
The Eau Claire Express were on their way to a victory in their series opener against the Mankato MoonDogs at Franklin Rogers Park tonight but Mankato had other plans.
The MoonDogs scored three runs in the ninth inning to tag Dalton Roach with a blown save and give the Express an 8-7 loss.
Roach entered to lock down the ninth but gave up four straight singles to a potent Mankato offense that totaled fifteen hits on the night.
The Express scored two runs in the first inning and held the lead until the ninth inning. Kyle Marinconz led the way with three hits on the night including an RBI.
CJ Eldred got the start on the mound and went seven innings but allowed 10 hits. He gave up five runs, two earned, on two walks and one strikeout. Roach earned the loss in 0.1 innings pitched with four hits and three runs scored.
Brady Burzynski and Tyler Adkison each added two hits on the night as well as the Express combined for 10 hits, but no extra base hits.
The series continues tomorrow as the Express play their final game of the season at 6:05 p.m. CT against the MoonDogs. Listen live at Mix 98.1 radio and online.
