Express fall on final day of regular season

Box Score

On the final day of the regular Northwoods League season the Eau Claire Express were searching for a win in Mankato but came up empty. They dropped the final game by a score of 10-1 to the MoonDogs at Franklin Rogers Park tonight.

Michael Gomez got the start on the mound and pitched five innings allowing five hits and four runs, all earned while walking four and striking out four. He was tabbed with the loss as the Express offense failed to provide enough run support.

The Express plated their lone run when Teddy Cillis scored Sam Mrstik with a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning. Cillis led the way for Eau Claire with two hits as the Express totaled for seven hits.

Travon Benton also added two hits including a double and a walk. The Express stranded nine runners on base.

Eau Claire ends the Northwoods League season at 29-42 and 16-21 in the second half.
