Express add pair of outfielders from Fresno State
Eau Claire, Wis. – Eau Claire Express field manager Dale Varsho announced the addition of two outfielders to the 2016 roster today. Joining the Express will be freshman Zach Ashford and junior Austin Guibor. The two additions bring Eau Claire’s roster to 11.
Ashford has appeared in 19 of the Bulldogs’ 21 games thus far (starting seven) and leads the team with a .394 batting average and .512 on-base percentage. The Clovis, Calif. native racked up several accolades as a senior at Buchanan High School highlighted by being named first-team all-state and to the 2015 Region 8 ABCA/Rawlings High School All-Region team, a list made up of the best prep talent in the country.
Guibor enters his third season as a Bulldog and has appeared in every game this spring, all but one in a starting role. He has a .260 batting average in a team-leading 73 at-bats and, like his teammate, has an impressive on-base percentage at .407. The Campbell, Calif. native leads the team in walks by a large margin with 17. Guibor led Fresno State last year as a sophomore with a .440 on-base percentage and ranked second with a .339 batting average.
The Express begin their twelfth season of play in the Northwoods League at Carson Park on May 31 versus the Rochester Honkers. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. in that contest, with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. Season tickets and 5-Game Packs are on sale now and single-game tickets go on sale on May 2.
